Mining Institute for Project design, Consultancy and Research
The Mining Institute for Project design, Consultancy and Research Banja Luka was established in 2003 with two main goals. The first is to organize local mining experts with the knowledge and potential to actively participate in the realization of new mining projects. Second goal is to meet the needs for the institution of this kind that have appeared in the mining sector of Republika Srpska.

The Mining Institute Banja Luka operates through three departments, Department of mining, Department of geology and geodesy and the Department of recultivation and environment protection. The main activities of the Mining Institute Banja Luka are the designs of mining projects, studies and other technical documentation for the companies engaged in the exploitation of mineral resources.  
 
Among other things, employees of the Mining Institute Banja Luka are particularly proud of the production of more than 40 feasibility studies for the approval of concessions for the exploitation of various types of mineral raw materials, as well as the complete engineering (greenfield) of the projects 'Luke', 'Rudine' and 'Lješljani' as well as many others
Mining Institute Banja Luka has many years of experience in the realization of mining projects on the exploitation of several types of mineral raw materials.

Mining Institute Banja Luka is memeber of the consortium on the implementation of the InvestRM project, funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of European Union, under the Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

Department of mining
The Department of mining carries out tasks related to the preparation of mining projects, plans, programs, studies, reports and studies; supervision over the performance of mining works; studying the application of modern technological procedures in mining; strategic research in the field of mining and other similar tasks.
Department of geology and geodesy
The Department of geology and geodesy carries out tasks related to organization and support to geological explorations; geodetic works for basic and special purposes; surveys; development of analogue and digital cadastral and geodetic plans and maps and other similar tasks.
Department of recultivation and environment protection
The Department of recultivation and environmental protection carries out tasks related to the preparation of projects, plans, programs, reports and studies in the field of recultivation and environmental protection; field works and supervision over the execution of field works in the area of recultivation and environmental protection.
